Health & Safety

HSE

Safety is at the core of everything we do at Kirstall. Our commitment to protecting people, assets, and the environment drives a proactive safety culture across all levels of our operations. We implement rigorous safety protocols, continuous training, and active oversight throughout each phase of work to ensure every task is executed with precision and care. Whether during high-risk turnaround activities or routine maintenance, our teams uphold the highest standards of compliance and accountability, making safety not just a priority but a shared responsibility.

Five-step approach to managing health and safety effectively:

1. Policy Development

We establish clear safety policies that define responsibilities and expectations. This includes the identification of potential hazards, thorough risk assessments, the definition of appropriate control measures, and the implementation of agreed safety actions.

2. Organisational Structure

We ensure safety through strong organisational support, promoting competence through training, maintaining clear control structures, encouraging cooperation across all levels, and fostering open and consistent communication.

3. Planning & Standard Setting

All safety plans and standards are developed to be measurable, achievable, and realistic. This ensures clear targets are set, monitored, and adjusted where necessary to maintain continuous improvement.

4. Performance Monitoring

We actively monitor safety performance through routine inspections and checks, while also conducting reactive monitoring based on incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions to ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.

5. Continuous Improvement and Learning

Through regular audits and reviews, we evaluate our compliance with safety standards, identify any deficiencies, and take action to close gaps. Incident data is analysed to enhance our understanding of root causes and prevent recurrence, ensuring a safer work environment for all stakeholders.

Our 10 Life Saving Rules:

Our Life Saving Rules serve as a critical foundation, guiding our behaviour and decision-making to prevent the most serious risks. We hold each individual accountable for adhering to these rules and promote a safety-first mindset across all operations.

Together, we strive to create a workplace where everyone can go home safely every day.
